The Shake Shed Freddy Reopens Under New Ownership in Fredericton

FREDERICTON — Three months after announcing its pending closure, The Shake Shed Freddy has officially reopened under new ownership. The business has been taken over by Jignesh and Nirupal Patel, a Fredericton-based couple with a long-standing appreciation for the popular local spot.

For the Patel family, The Shake Shed Freddy holds a special place in their hearts since moving to Fredericton in 2019.

“We used to go there often, so we were kind of sad that it was closing,” said their daughter, Vishna Patel. “But we also heard there was an opportunity to buy it. My parents were very excited to look into that option.”

Owning a business had long been a goal for the Patels, and this opportunity felt like the perfect fit. On January 8, 2023, the family officially announced the new ownership, along with winter hours and confirmation that The Shake Shed Freddy would remain open.

The Patels’ vision for the future of the business is to preserve the familiar experience the community loves, while also reintroducing some fan favorites.

“There won’t be any major changes,” Vishna explained. “The only thing we might bring back are the special features The Shake Shed used to offer. We’re probably going to roll those out soon.”

While the family plans to maintain the core identity of the Shake Shed for now, Vishna hinted at future innovations: “Eventually, we’d love to bring in new ideas, but for the near future, we’re focusing on what people already enjoy.”

The Patel family is excited to begin this new chapter with The Shake Shed Freddy, hoping to continue its legacy while building a future rooted in community and tradition.
