New Brunswick Day is a holiday in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, celebrated on the first Monday of August. It’s an opportunity for people to come together and strengthen their local communities by celebrating their achievements, history, culture, and the beautiful landscape of the province.
Celebrate New Brunswick Day with us on Monday, August 5th, in downtown Fredericton!
The day will be filled with great entertainment and fun activities for all. This free, all-inclusive event will take place rain or shine. Queen Street will become a pedestrian walkway for the duration of the event; bring your lawn chairs and spend the day.
**Celebrations begin at noon with performances by:**

– Calithumpians Present “NB Backwards & Forward!” – a revue-style show featuring highlights and out-takes from the current 2024 season in a fast-paced, musical comedic family-oriented tribute to New Brunswick

The lawns around the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Legislative Assembly will be decorated with New Brunswick flags and banners. The Legislative Assembly building will be open to the public until 4:30 PM, offering a great opportunity to learn more about the province’s legislation. Please bring a government-issued ID and be aware of security regulations.
**FREE children’s activities from noon to 4 PM on the Beaverbrook Art Gallery and Christ Church Cathedral lawn include:**
– Bounce castles
– Bounce slides
– Snow cones
– Cotton candy
– Popcorn
– Face painting
– Balloon artists
The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will offer FREE admission during their operational hours. Join the gallery’s programs team and summer students for engaging art activities inspired by New Brunswick’s rich cultural heritage and the art on display. Create mixed media paintings, artful buttons, folk-art-inspired paintings, or plasticine sculptures. Participate in a gallery scavenger hunt with family and friends to discover your favorite works of art.
Street performers, including jugglers, roaming performers, and stilt walkers dressed as New Brunswick birds, will entertain the crowd. On Queen Street, enjoy games and activities such as jump rope, hula hoops, sidewalk chalk, badminton, bubbles, tic-tac-toe, and more. Experience Bannock making with Jenna White.
**Emancipation Day will also be celebrated with FREE activities at Officers Square, including:**

The Explore NB Street Team will be present with information, swag, and fun activities. St. John Ambulance and the Fredericton Water Department will be on hand, with a portable water station available for the duration of the event—remember to bring your reusable water bottles.
Fredericton Capital Region Tourism will also be present on the lawn of the Legislative Assembly, alongside a New Brunswick Day market featuring vendors selling unique wares such as:

– Local artisans

Interactive activities will be set up on the Legislative Assembly lawn, including a selfie stand, giveaways of refillable water bottles, beach balls, flags, and tattoos (while supplies last). Decorate cookies, experience Bannock making on an open fire, and enjoy interactive science experiences with Quartermain Museum, DAAF, Jesse Campbell Magic, The Unveiling of the Great Blue Heron, Walking Tours, and Science East. New Brunswick artist Brittany Schuler will live paint the event.
Learn about the history of fishing and hunting in New Brunswick, along with safety tips from Minnow Tackle Shop, Fredericton Fish and Game Association, Fredericton recreation leader, Tourism Development, and United Guides & Outfitters of New Brunswick. Participate in fly-tying and fly-casting demonstrations, kayaking lessons, and a fly-casting competition.
