Business Immigration Stream

This stream is well suited for senior business managers or experienced business owners who are willing to start or buy a business in New Brunswick and to be actively involved in it as well.

Business Immigration Stream

Eligibility

For consideration you must:

    • Have an eligible connection to New Brunswick through at least one of the ways below:

    -New Brunswick Exploratory tour for 5 business days; or

    -Proof of family member living in New Brunswick as Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen; or

    -Proof of at least one-year post-secondary studies in New Brunswick for the applicant or spouse; or

    -Proof of 30 hours per week at least 6 months of work experience in New Brunswick

    • Be between the ages of 21-59 years
    • Have a minimum of high school diploma
    • Have obtained a minimum score equal to or greater than a Canadian Language Benchmark CLB5
    • Have a verifiable personal net worth of at least CAD $500,000
    • Obtain a score of at least 65/100 points on the stream’s selection factors
    • Plan on living in New Brunswick
    • Make an eligible business investment of not less than CAD $150,000

Step 1: Expression of Interest Criteria

Applicants must carefully fill out and submit an online Expression of Interest form (EOI). From there EOIs will be selected based on their score, background, and future business plans. EOIs will remain valid for 12 months from the date of receipt, and if the EOI is not selected, the applicant may submit a new one afterward.

Step 2: Receiving the Invitation to Apply

Invitation to apply to submit a full application will be given to successful candidates whose EOIs have been selected. Applicants must complete the application form along with sending the supporting documents for up to 90 days. A business plan and a Net Worth Verification Report must also be provided.

Step 3: Application Assessment

At this step, applications will be evaluated in receipt order.

Step 4: Application Approval

The Immigration Office will send a Business performance Agreement and a work permit support letter if approved.

Step 5: Work Permit Application

After receiving the Work Permit Letter of Support, the applicant must apply to IRCC. The Federal Government will review the application and issue a work permit if it is approved. The work permit is valid for 2 years.

Step 6: Arrive in Canada

Within 1 month following the applicant’s arrival date in Canada, the applicant must report in writing to the Immigration office and submit to PETL the Report Of Arrival form and Within the first 9 months following arrival date in Canada, the business must be open.

Within 2 years following arrival date in Canada, the applicant must have operated the business for one year according to the terms and conditions set out in the signed and dated Business Performance Agreement.

Step 7: Apply for The Permanent residency

If conditions were met, a Nomination Certificate will be issued from the province. The Applicant then submits documents to IRCC. IRCC will assess the application based on Canadian immigration law and make the final decision for granting a PR visa.
